Webinars
In principle, EFS organises webinars six times a year on current tax or recent developments in case law in the field of European and/or international tax law. The webinars are theme-based in the sense that they are in line with the three core activities of EFS, namely direct taxation in European and international tax law, Value added tax and finally customs duties and excises. A webinar will be devoted to each theme in the spring and autumn. Most of them are in English but some webinars will be in Dutch. The webinars last one hour and usually take place from 16:00 -17:00. They are free to enter. In principle, PE points can be obtained for the webinars, but you must apply for them yourself at your own organisation.
During 2025 the following webinars are planned:
19 june Value Added Tax
11 september Direct taxation (corporate income tax, personal income tax, taxtreaties, EU tax law)
16 october Customs and excises
27 november Value Addes Tax
Invitation to the EFS webinar on recent VAT developments – 19 June 16.00 CET
Dear Sir/Madam,
We are pleased to invite you to join our EFS (Erasmus Fiscal Studies) webinar, where we provide an update on recent VAT developments. This one-hour session features EFS program coordinators Milja Bormann-Bakker, Rakesh Girah, John Gruson, alongside EFS program director and board member Professor Madeleine Merkx, who will discuss three highly relevant VAT topics.
E-invoicing and digital reporting
With the legal texts of VAT in the Digital Age (ViDA) published in the Official Journal of the EU, it is essential to get acquainted with these new rules which will impact businesses trading in the EU. Some rules have been in effect since 14 April, and we will explore what this means, as well as how Member States are responding to the options provided by the Directive. In this webinar we will provide you with updates on recent developments, diving both into the rules from the Directive as well as developments in individual Member States.
TP and VAT
The question of whether Transfer Pricing Corrections affect VAT has been a longstanding issue. With three pending cases at the level of the CJEU, greater clarity is expected soon. During our webinar, we will discuss these cases and analyse the opinions of the Advocates-General in the Arcomet Tower Cranes and Högkullen case. Additionally, we will examine the judgement of the CJEU in the Weatherford Atlas Gip case.
New Dutch policy on holding companies
As of 1 July 2025, a new decree from the Dutch State Secretary of Finance will come into effect, addressing the VAT position of holding companies. We will discuss this decree and highlight the most important changes. Even though this topic is of particular interest to those dealing with Dutch based holding companies, it is valuable for others dealing with the topic in other EU Member States as well, as it illustrates the Netherlands’ interpretation and application of the case law of the CJEU on holding companies.
EFS’s programs
Additionally, we will inform you about our post-master programs and top-level seminar in EU VAT. These highly acclaimed EFS programs are designed to deepen and broaden your VAT knowledge. We offer different programs tailored to various levels of experience, accommodating everyone working in the field of VAT and/or seeking to expand their knowledge.
