On 8 February 2024, EFS is organizing its concluding conference for the three post-master programmes, in EU Customs Law and VAT (Dutch and English edition). The theme of the conference will be: ‘VAT and customs in the digital age’. Five speakers will give their views on the developments which are currently taking place, whereafter an expert panel reflects on the presentation during an interactive discussion.

VAT and customs in a digital age is a highly relevant topic. Within barely half a year the European Commission has tabled a number of proposals that – once adopted – will significantly change the way VAT and customs duties are levied in the EU. Both VAT in the digital age and the customs reform take advantage of the technological developments to make VAT and customs legislation fit for the digital age. Not surprisingly, these proposals interact with each other, and one has implications for the other. During this EFS conference, we will provide you with both an overview of the plans of the European Commission, but we will also take some deep dives into the areas where these proposals interact.

We are pleased to invite tax professionals from the Netherlands and abroad with a background in consultancy and practice and working for government authorities, tax and customs administrations, international organisations, industry or the academic world to attend this conference, which will also officially marks and celebrates the completion of the learning journey of participants in the 2023-edition of the EFS post-master programmes in EU Customs Law and VAT (Dutch and English edition).

The conference is free of charge and participants are eligible for 3 Permanent Education points.
